CHAPTER 15

Isaac

“What’s got you so smiley?” Jasper asks, stepping up beside me at the bar.

“Excuse me?” I ask, even though I heard him over the low strum of Jameson’s guitar.

“You. You’ve been all…happy for the last week or so. What’s up?” my friend inquires, those dark brown eyes lasered in on me.

I shrug, trying to shake off the feeling of nervousness.

The truth is, I have felt a little lighter the last week or so. Ever since BJ drew that Pi sign on my chest and then we did all kinds of dirty things in that room. It’s crazy, you know? I feel more connected to her than any other woman who’s shared my bed.

Though, there hasn’t been a lot of bedroom time since we started hanging out. The great thing about BJ is her desire and willingness to get naked outside of that particular room. It’s been an adventure.

“See? That right there. What are you thinking about?” Jasper demands as Walker stops by our side of the bar.

“What’s going on?” he asks, refilling my Coke.

“Nothing,” I reply, leaning against the bar and watching our friend up on stage as he begins a Lennon song.

“I was commenting on his smile,” Jasper says to Walker, sipping his water with a smug grin on his face.

“Ahh, yes. The smile. It’s the same kind you had when you finally started getting naked with Lyndee,” Walker states.

I can feel two pairs of eyes on me and hear their speculation about the reason for my smiles, but I refuse to look at them. Instead, I keep my gaze locked on our friend at the front as he sings “Imagine.” I catch movement out of the corner of my eye.

“Shit, is that Savannah?” Jasper asks, standing up straight.

“What’s she doing here?” Walker inquires, tossing the towel on the bar and resting his hands on the marred top.

Before I can answer either of their questions, my ex-girlfriend spots me across the bar and heads my way. “Fuck,” I grumble, taking a long sip of my Coke and wishing it had a bit of Jack in it.

Savannah wiggles her fingers in a wave, her red nails glistening beneath the dim lights as she slips through the crowd until she’s standing directly in front of me. “Isaac.”

“Savannah,” I reply with a nod. “What can I do for you?”

She gives me a blinding smile, one that not too long ago used to turn me into putty in her hands. Now, I want to roll my eyes at her blatant attempt to manipulate me with just a smile. “I wanted to say hi. I stopped by with friends,” she purrs, flipping her long, blonde hair over her shoulder.

“Well, you said it. Now you can return to your group.”

She seems positively stunned by my brush-off, which makes Jasper snicker behind me. “Yes, well, I wanted to say hello, but also see when I could stop by and retrieve my things.” She seems a little more businesslike now, standing straight and holding my gaze.

I shrug casually and lean on the bar.
